God

One question everyone asks, even from an early age, is how did everything we see come into existence, including ourselves. There have been many answers given throughout history to this most basic and important question with most of them fading away over time and new one's being proposed. Generally, the answers fall into one of two categories: the universe has always existed or it was created by someone outside of the universe.

So when was the last time that you seriously considered how it all happened?  Maybe it is time for you to consider again how things exist…how you exist…and why you exist.  If you would like to share your thoughts with us, just go to                                                    . We would love to hear from you, whether you agree with our conclusion or not.  We will always be respectful and cordial in our responses.

Jesus Christ

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life".  Throughout history and in all cultures, there have been many great religious leaders who have provided direction.  So what makes Jesus Christ different and not just another leader with a new idea about who God is and how people should relate to Him?  That is a fair question that deserves an unbiased, reasonable, and uncomplicated answer.

We would love to share with you the information that supports the resurrection of Jesus and consequently, His claim to be "the way, the truth, and the life'.  Just                                 and let us know.  Even if you don't believe this claim of Jesus, we would we still would like to hear from you and know why.

Your Life

After the Greek philosopher Socrates was convicted and sentenced to death, he turned to the jury and made perhaps his most famous statement, "the unexamined life is not worth living". Socrates had concluded that humans possess a body and soul, with the soul being immortal and ruler over the body. It is the soul, he reasoned, that is like the divine nature.

Paul, one of the apostles of Jesus, agreed with Socrates' reasoning.  About 400 years later, Paul was in Socrates' hometown of Athens and stated that God "made the world and everything in it" and "in Him we live and move and have our being".  Further, Paul agreed with Socrates, and other Greek writers, that humanity does have a divine nature. We are different from all other creatures and were made for a purpose.  But what is that purpose?

So when was the last time you thoughtfully examined your life and how you ought to live. All people fall short of living up to the divine standard. We all suffer from guilt and shame but the beauty of the gospel of Jesus Christ is that we are offered forgiveness from the past and hope and help for the future.  Please take time to consider God, to consider Jesus Christ as the way to God, and your relationship to both of them.  And know that the Opelika Church exists to help each one of us live like God wants us to live, to enjoy the journey with Jesus , and cherish the hope of eternal life.  So please do not hesitate to visit with us and/or contact us if we can be of any help and support to you.  Just click the Contact Us link below and let us know.
